Voluntary Sector leads the way in flexible recruitment benefits for Scotland
goodmoves – Scotland’s premier careers hub for the Voluntary (Third) Sector – is championing the benefits of advertising jobs flexibly, by partnering with Family Friendly Working Scotland and their ‘Happy to Talk Flexible Working’ logo and strapline.
goodmoves has seen the opportunity for clients to advertise flexibly and has added an additional option to their recruitment website, which enables clients to advertise their posts as ‘flexible’, whenever it is appropriate to do so. They also encourage clients to use the free Happy to Talk Flexible Working logo.
47% of the workforce would like to work flexibly but only 6% of job adverts are designed flexibly. Flexible hiring widens the talent pool for organisations and offers a competitive advantage. Using the Happy to Talk Flexible Working strapline also helps organisations with skills shortages and can encourage greater diversity.
By recruiting flexibly and adopting family friendly working practices, employers have reported to FFWS that they can achieve increased productivity and performance, reduced absenteeism, better morale and well-being, as well as improving staff retention and recruitment. Family friendly and flexible working brings benefits to employees, while also delivering high performance and successful organisations.
A number of goodmoves clients and third sector organisations have already benefitted from using the free logo, including St Andrew’s First Aid, Young Enterprise Scotland, Green for Good and Glasgow Council on Alcohol. Many other private and public organisations across Scotland also use the logo, including Maclay Murray and Spens LLP and West Dunbartonshire Council.
Speaking about the partnership, John Ferguson, Director of Development at SCVO which runs goodmoves said:
“SCVO is delighted to partner with, and support the mission of, FFWS through our third sector jobs website goodmoves.org.uk. The third sector is principally a people business where any successful employer knows that achieving its goals is much easier with a motivated, enthusiastic and focused team. Fundamental to developing such a team is fully appreciating the complex and demanding family responsibilities people have in their lives and creating a working environment which promotes flexibility and understanding.
The work of FFWS in bringing such focus to all Scottish employers is a major service to our society where better balanced employees are more productive, our economy is growing and we have an improving place to live. SCVO looks forward to our continued partnership with the team at FFWS.”
Nikki Slowey, Programme Director at FFWS said: “We are delighted that goodmoves has recognised the benefits that recruiting flexibly has for their clients and has partnered with us to offer the Happy to Talk Flexible Working logo to clients and organisations across the Third Sector. Not only does it benefit their clients, but it helps individuals and the Scottish economy more widely.”
