Employers play a critical role in supporting employee mental health and wellbeing and with the fast-changing nature of work, there has never been a more vital time for organisations to ensure they are supporting the mental health and wellbeing of employees. Not simply because it’s the “right thing to do”, but because creating a healthy working culture makes sound business sense. Happy, healthy workers are generally more productive and motivated.
- On average one in six people working in your organisation will experience mental health problems.
- Over a fifth (22%) of businesses report that mental ill health is the primary cause of long-term absence compared with 13% in 2016.
We will look at the challenges that businesses face, as well as the opportunities that being proactive about mental health can present. There are a great number of practical steps that employers can take to improve and protect mental health in the workplace.
