Case study: Kevon Hayati.
Kevon Hayati is 31 and lives in Glasgow. He is a Marketing & Creative Design Specialist with SAS Software. On a normal week he work 37.5 hours, the typical hours are 9am – 5.30pm. There is some flexibility with start/leave times.
At SAS Software, staff have the freedom to start early in order to leave early. For example, Kevon will typically come in at 8.30am and work til 5pm. His team are also permitted to work from home one day a week, which is flexible. These options generally apply for those where it is appropriate and doesn’t affect their ability to do their job.
He said: “As I live alone, it is beneficial to have the freedom to work from home one day a week for times when I am expecting deliveries or I have any other commitments which would otherwise require someone to be home. Being able to choose what day this is each week is also useful as it allows me to plan my week. It is also helpful having one less day a week when a commute to the office is required, which takes time and costs money. It is also very useful to have some flexibility with my start/finish times for appointments.”
"The reasons we work this way is to help staff better balance their personal life with work.”
